Ex-Scission

"Ex-Scission" was an exercise of introspection through writing and, at the same time, an attempt to merge imagistic prose and laconic writing. While the ghost of Jorge Luis Borges certainly helped erect the labyrinthine halls in which this story takes place, and perhaps the unsigned mirror bears his invisible mark, the protagonist's journey deeper inside the symbolic edifice mirrors the author-reader's own. "For," as Robert Rowland Smith writes, "the private journey to the bottom of the mind takes with it no companions."
